Rules may be updated every now and then, so check back once in a while to see if anything has changed.
If you don't want to read everything, the basic rules are underlined.
Be kind to other players. If you want to swear sometimes on the forums or in-game, then go ahead. You don't need to cuss in every sentence though; be reasonable. But if you are caught commonly being a dick to people without receiving negativity in return, or if you are repeatedly reported by multiple players (that provide proof), you will be muted for 48 hours. Multiple offenses may result in a ban.
Staff impersonation is not allowed. If you are reported (with proof) for causing any offense or trying to cause an offense related to you impersonating a staff member, you may be banned on the spot if the offense is large enough. The offences include, but are not limited to, trying to get players' passwords, trying to receive items or gold from players for the reason of "being staff," or threatening to mute/jail/ban a player for not doing what you say. (If you would like to report a player for staff impersonation, go to the "Staff List" post in the staff section of the forums.)
Logging in to another account to avoid punishment is bannable. If you receive a punishment you are unhappy with then go to the Staff, Reports & Appeals section on the forums and provide proof for why your punishment should be lifted.
No clicking bots. Want to turn on an auto clicker or any software that copies your mouse movements and clicks? If you enjoy being banned, then go ahead. (I shouldn't need to explain why. It gives you an unfair advantage.)
Multi-logging is okay, to a degree. You may have up to 2 accounts logged in at once, but both cannot be doing bossing. If you are ever found to be abusing this rule, one or more of your accounts will at least be kicked. Repeated offenders may be banned on the spot (your warning is the previous time(s) you've caused a problem).
Crashing players is a dick move. If you "crash" (start attacking in an attempt to steal kills) another player, then that player has the right to flame the hell out of you. If there's something you want to do and someone else is already doing it, then ask to join them or find another monster/boss to fight for the time being. Then again, a person should not be at the same boss for 8 hours straight. These are both strong recommendations.
Safe spotting is when you stand in a place that causes a boss to hit you less/never. Safe spotting is not allowed.
Safe spotting is nice (and afk) but it allows a player to kill bosses at an earlier point than they should be able to, and gives ranged and magic an unfair advantage over melee and is therefore restricted to the boss(es) listed above. If you find a safe spot then let Michael know about it. The punishment for safe spotting is a 48-hour ban and the removal of all items obtained while safe spotting. 48 hours is enough time for us to remove the safe spot.
Real World Trading with other players is at your own risk. If you want to buy Malevolence gold/items with currency or items from other games, then go ahead. If you're willing to risk being scammed by another player, then you can decide on the trade value with that player. Staff will not be a middleman for any transactions.
Don't spam. Whether you are trying to buy/sell an item, get a player's attention (including staff), or you just want to be an irritant, spamming can get very annoying and may result in a 48 hour mute. There is potential for the mute to be lifted early if you are not a past offender.
Just give 15 seconds or so between messages that are the same, or maybe even longer because chances are that if no one responds to you, they are probably afk or can't buy/sell to you.
Abusing bugs you find rather than reporting them could easily result in a ban. If it is discovered that you abused a bug, it will be required that you return all items acquired during the abuse, or your account will be banned.
For example, if you abused a bug to somehow one-shot Vorago, you would lose the following items:
Your Vorago killcount multiplied by the amount of gold Vorago can drop,
Any items we think** you bought, whether from shops or players,
Any drop you have that is exclusive to Vorago.
OR we'll just ban you if we know you continued abusing the bug rather than reporting it.
And in case you're slightly confused, if you do it once on accident then it's not abuse. Abuse is only if you do it on purpose/multiple times.
**We have the right to guess what you have gained from abusing the bug. If you think that guessing which items were illegally obtained is a bad system, then don't cheat and it will never be a problem for you.
